Govt committed to dignified return of Pandits: DyCM

JAMMU, Aug 20: Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh today said that the Government is committed to rehabilitation of displaced Pandits in Valley with honour and dignity.
Addressing the PM package employees at Veervan (Baramulla) Migrant Camp during an interactive meeting organized by Veervan Welfare Coordination Committee today, Dr Singh said that certain vested elements are tying to create hurdles in this regard by spreading canards. But the Government will deal with them firmly as it is committed to restore the pluralistic character of Valley.
Maintaining that there is no proposal of establishing a Sainik Colony in Kashmir for rehabilitation of ex-servicemen, he said the canards are being spread by certain vested elements in this regard to create a confusion among the people.
He, while assuring the migrant employees appointed under PM package that Government will take all steps in providing better facilities to them, he said various steps were already taken in this regard.
Dr Singh, issued directives to authorities of PDD, PHE and Municipality to provide all basic facilities to the employees in the camp.
Dr Singh was also accompanied by Minister of Industries and Commerce Chander Parkash Ganga during his visit.
Apprising Dr Singh and Mr Ganga of their problems Rakesh Pandita on behalf of the employees said that since their appointment in Valley in 2010 they are facing family isolation. “ We are physically here but our heart and mind is in Jammu as our families and entire society is there., We also face socially isolated”, he added.
He demanded that Government should either put the rehabilitation process of the displaced people in motion or take the employees back to Jammu as they are totally cut off from the society.
He said the BJP has backed the community right from 1989 when mass exodus took place and the community pins high homes in the present Government. He also highlighted the other problems of the migrant employees like water supply in the camp, delay in release of salaries of PM package employees, and inter -district transfers after marriage etc.
Meanwhile addressing a public gathering at Sheeri, Heervan in Baramulla district, DyCM said that ever since the present Government took over, it has been endeavor to ensure smooth, transparent and corruption free administration which would   cater to the demands of the people at the gross root levels. “It has been  our endeavor to  ensure  that corruption free administration is provided to the  people  of the State and in this regard  several corrupt officers have been shown the door and the  tirade  against  corruption would continue” , he added.
The Deputy Chief Minister said  that  new job opportunities  would be  provided  to the  youth of the State  and in this regard  the Government has formulated a comprehensive  job policy which would  ensure  that  the jobs  are provided to the educated youth of the State on merit and through transparent manner. He said the youth should come forward and contribute their bit in nation building and it is the duty of the Government to ensure that their talent  and  capabilities  are channelized  in a proper manner.
Responding to the demands  of the people, the  Minister for industries and Commerce Chander Parkash  Ganga  said  that  a new  industrial  estate would be developed in the Heevan area and  directed the  officers to identify the land  for the  purpose.
Later the Deputy Chief Minister interacted with various deputations at Baramulla.  He assured them that all their genuine demands would be redressed in a proper way in a time bound manner.
Responding to their demands, the Deputy Chief Minister announced an amount of Rs.15 lakh for the Municipal Corporation Baramulla for augmentation of various essential things like drainage, street lightening and construction of lanes.
