JAMMU, Aug 21: The Health and Medical Education Department today restored Gastroenterology Department in the Super Specialty Hospital and appointment of Dr Shoket Choudhary as its Head of Department.
An official order issued by Dr MK Bhandari, Secretary to Government, Health and Medical Education Department vide No. 335 HME of 2015 dated 21/8/2015 said the previous Government order No. 139-HME of 2015 dated 22/4/2015 has been kept in abeyance. Under this order, the Government had closed the Gastroenterology Department and demoted Dr Choudhary in the Medicines Department.
By keeping the order in abeyance, the Government has restored the previous position i.e. creation of Gastroenterology Department in the SSH Jammu and posting of Dr Choudhary as its HoD.
During the past few days, the SSH was witnessing massive protests from the patients including gherao of the Medical Superintendent and blockade of road seeking restoration of the Department, which had forced the Acting Principal to ask Dr Choudhary to run special OPD.
