Boycott of classes, protest goes on at BGSBU

RAJOURI, Aug 21: The boycott of classes by students and protest demonstration in Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University continued on the 13th consecutive day today while civil society from Rajouri met the District Administration and exerted pressure to take serious cognizance of the very sensitive issue of corruption and mal-practice in the prestigious institution of the area.
Officials sources said that the students of the University today again boycotted their classes and took out protest rally on the campus and raised slogans against the VC and  Registrar. They also demanded re-constitution of fresh Special Investigation Team  and holding thorough probe into the scholarship scandal which has brought bad name to the varsity. They also demanded complete audit and scrutiny of all the three main accounts of the University since 2009.
Later, in the afternoon, the students were invited by the District Administration / SSP to Rajouri for the fresh dialogue for resolving the issue. The members of civil society/ Sangharsh Samiti  also joined and held meeting led by SSP Dr Haseeb Mughal. The members of the society stressed upon the Administration to hold a fair probe into the matter and consider the demands of the students for resolving this issue. They also expressed concern that the study of the students is being affected with the ongoing strike. The SSP said that framing of new SIT will delay the investigations  and assured that he will try his best to do justice in the case. The students  on the other hand, have declared that they will not succumb to any pressure and will continue  agitation till their demands are met.
