JAMMU, Aug 22: Players drawn from various Schools of different zones in District Jammu displayed grit, guts and showed promise in Zonal Level Inter-School Tournaments , organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports at various zones here today.
The 3-day Tournament in Under-19 boys and girls in the disciplines of Kho-Kho, Kabaddi, Volleyball, Cricket and Wrestling concluded at Govt HSS Domana, today.
The Tournament was held under the chairmanship of Madan Lal, Joint Director Youth Services and Sports and under the overall supervision of Sukhdev Raj Sharma, DYSSO Jammu. The Tournament was supervised by Veena Tickoo, ZPEO Bhalwal and Jasbir Singh Bhau, ZPEO Marh.
In wrestling Under-19 boys, Mulkh Raj of GHSS Gharota won gold medal in below 42 kg, while Annam Kumar and Deepak Kumar of the same School claimed gold medals in below 46 and below 50 kg categories respectively. In 55 kg category, Anjeet Kumar of GHSS Jhiri bagged gold, while Rohit Singh of GHSS Marh clinched gold in 60 kg category. Anil Kumar of GHSS Domana won gold in 66 kg, while Sachin Sharma of GHSS Jhiri claimed gold in 74 kg weight category.
In a combined venture of RS Pura and Miran Sahib Zones, the District Level Inter-School Tournament, organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports concluded at Middle School RS Pura today.
The Tournament was conducted under the supervision of Chander Kanta, ZPEO R S Pura and Poonam Kotwal.
MLA RS Pura Gagan Bhagat was the chief guest on the concluding function who while speaking on the occasion threw light on significance of sports in educational institutions.
He was accompanied by Chander Kanta, Poonam Kotwal, Suesh Dubey, ZEPO RS Pura and Madhu Bala, Headmaster Govt City Middle School RS Pura.
Earlier, in Kabaddi Under-19 boys final, Govt Boys HSS RS Pura defeated GHSS Chakroi in an easy contest by 15 points (31-16).
The Tournaments was held under the chairmanship of Madan Lal, Joint Director Youth Services and Sports and Sukhdev Raj Sharma, DYSSO Jammu.
The matches were officiated by Gobind Singh, Kulbir Singh, Dalwari Lal, Vijay, Gurmeet Singh, Gurcharan and Yash Saini.

In Kho-Kho girls final, HSS Jourian defeated HSS Pallanwalla by 2 points, while HSS Pallanwalla drubbed HSS Pargwal by one inning and 4 points earlier.
The Tournament was organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, under the supervision of Veer Ji Bhat and Ramesh Choudhary, Zonal Physical Education Officers.
The matches were officiated by Ashok Kumar, Sham Krishan, Ramesh Chander, Jagan Nath and Devinder Singh.
Jammu and Dansal zones also organized the Zonal Level Inter-School Tournament in the disciplines of Kho-Kho, Kabaddi and Wrestling for Under-19 boys and girls at GGHSS Bakshi Nagar, which concluded today. The Tournament was held under the supervision of Zonal Physical Education Officer, Saroman Dogra.
In Kho-Kho Under-19 girls, GHSS Nagrota defeated GHSS Rehari by 7 points, GHSS Mubarak Mandi got better of GHSS Bakshi Nagar by 5 points, GHSS Canal Road defeated GHSS Nagrota by 3 points, GHSS Muthi prevailed over GHSS Mubarak Mandi by a solitary point and in the finals, GHSS Canal Road outplayed HSS Mullu by 3 points.
