DDC discusses arrangements for Janmashtami Festival

JAMMU, Aug 22: District Development Commissioner Jammu, Simrandeep Singh today discussed arrangements for   Janmashtami Festival at a meeting convened here.
It was informed in the meeting that Shobha Yatra will be taken out on September 4 which will pass through main bazaars of old Jammu city.
The DDC gave specific instructions to the concerned departments and asked them to put in place all the necessary arrangements well in advance for smooth celebration of Janmashtami Festival.
Police authorities were asked to ensure adequate security arrangements during Janmashtami congregation and around the religious places. DDC directed the Jammu Municipal Corporation to ensure cleanliness in the city especially enroute Shoba Yatra. He also directed JMC authorities to keep mobile toilets and water tankers available for convenience of the devotees.
R&B Department was asked to carry out repair works of roads in the city areas immediately, while as Chief Medical Officer was asked to ensure availability of ambulances at crucial points.
PHE and PDD were asked to provide uninterrupted water and power supply during the festival days, while the Fire Services authorities were asked to station Fire tenders one each at Parade Ground and Panjtirthi.
The meeting also discussed the route of Shoba Yatra from Shri Durga Mandir Gandhi Nagar. The committee members of the Shri Durga Mandir told that the Shoba Yatra would pass through Gandhi Nagar, Shastri Nagar and other adjoining areas.
The meeting was attended by SSP Traffic Mohan Lal,  Joint Director Information Jammu Nagendra Jamwal, SDM Jammu Piyush Singla, ACG, Shehnaz Chowdhary, ACR Subah Mehta, Tehsildar Jammu Abid Hussain, besides senior officers from School Education, Youth Services and Sports, Fire Services, Health, JMC, R&B, representatives of Sanatam Dharam Sabha, Shri Durga Mandir and other religious organizations.
