JAMMU, Aug 22: P.G. Department team of University of Jammu won the Inter-Collegiate Chess (Men) Championship 2015-16 after beating GDC Samba team by 3.5 – 0.5 points in the final match played today at the Gymnasium Hall of Directorate of Sports & Physical Education, University of Jammu.
Hiteshwar Kessar (PG Dept.) out played Neeraj Singh Sambyal, Kulveer Singh Parihar (PG Deptt.) dubbed Janish Jai Manyal, Ishaan Sarna (PG Dept.) beat Vikas Singh Sambyal, while the match played between Sahil Sharma (PG Dept.) and Debanshu Sambyal ended in draw as 0.5 – 0.5 points were awarded to both the players.
Prof. Dhian S. Bhau, Director Sports & Physical Education, University of Jammu was the chief guest of the valedictory function who awarded trophy to the winner team in the presence of Prof. M.S. Pathania, Sushil Sawhney, Romesh Sharma, Gagan Kumar, Jai Bharat, P.D. Singh (Incharge Tournament) and staff of the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu.
