AMETHI : Union Human Resources Development (HRD) Minister Smriti Irani today held the Gandhi family responsible for the backwardness of the area and alleged that they have been giving only false promises to the people for the past over 60 years.
She alleged that during the 80s, the Gandhi family took the land of the farmers for development but surprisingly they did nothing.
Addressing a ‘ Dhikkar Sabha’ here, Ms Irani said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has started several big welfare schemes for the people and in the coming days the people will realise the benefits they are receiving.
” The Gandhi family have always misused the sentiments of the people of the area for their own vested interests for the past 60 years,” she alleged, adding that ”the family was always against the farmers.
The Union minister further alleged that 64 acres of land acquired for Smarat Cycle factory from the farmers way back was illegally transferred in the name of Rajiv Gandhi charitable trust on February 24,2015.
” I will continue to fight for the people of Amethi till the myth of Rahul Gandhi is totally washed out from their minds,” she announced.
The Union HRD minister said that the new and unique Pradhan Mantri MUDRA (Micro Units Development and Refinance Agency) Yojana would be launched in Amethi in a big way. Under the scheme small entrepeneurs including rickshaw pullers and road side shops owners could get a loan of Rs 50,000 to Rs 10 lakhs without much hassle.
Ms Irani asked the local BJP leaders to make a list of the beneficieries of the scheme so that she can launch it in a big way in the district soon.
Interestingly, Congress Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Singh’s son Anant Vikram Singh was present at the meeting of Ms Irani. Recently Anant was released on bail over a murder during a clash between him and the supporters of his father. Ms Irani would distribute Pradhanmanti Suraksha Bima policy to 25,000 women today on the occassion of Rakshabandhan. Each woman has to pay Rs 12 per year for Rs 2 lakh accidental insurance coverage.
During her visit the Union minister was apprised by several people about their problems mostly about the police harassment and health related issues. Some students also raised the recent order of the High Court asking the officials and others to send their children to government schools. Surprisingly, Ms Irani distributed cash to couple of people who narrated their problems and even asked the local BJP leaders to help them.
Ms Irani visited the residence of former district panchayat chairman Sant Baksh Singh, who died in an accident on July 15. She paid her tribute to the leader. Later she also paid condolence on the death of BJP worker Pawan Kumar at Haliyapur roundabout, who died 10 days back. (AGENCIES)
