Abdul Haq gets Bharat Jyoti Award

NEW DELHI, Aug 26: Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Abdul Haq has been conferred with the prestigious Bharat Jyoti Award by India International Friendship Society (IIFS). He will receive the award at a conference on “Economic Growth and National Integration” scheduled to be held at New Delhi on August 29.  The award will be presented to Mr. Haq by former Governor of Tamil Nadu and Assam, Dr Bhisham Narain Singh.
The award is presented in honor of extraordinary contribution and meritorious performance to eminent politicians, social workers, educationists, industrialists, and sportspersons, for their contribution towards the society in their field of endeavors.
The award is being conferred to Abdul Haq in recognition for his extra-ordinary political career and contribution to society both as MLA and as a Minister.
As the Minister for Rural Development, Abdul Haq has been instrumental in launching the State wide mission “My Village-My World (Gaon, Jahaan Hamara)” in every Panchayat Halqa recently.  The mission envisages planned development of villages, polythene free environs, conservation and cleanliness of water bodies and convergence of MGNREGA with other schemes for improving delivery mechanism in rural areas.
Member Parliament and former Deputy Chief Minister of J&K, Muzaffar Hussain Beig and former Finance Minister of Jammu-Kashmir, A R Rather are among few who have also been conferred this prestigious award.
