JAMMU, Sept 2: Janamashtmi–an important festival dedicated to the birth of Lord Krishna was celebrated at GD Goenka Public School with religious fervour and gaiety.
On the occasion, a special assembly was conducted by the students of classes III to V.
The assembly began with a speech, which was followed by ‘Ras-leela’ performed on ‘Aaj Radha Ko Shyam Shad Aa Gaya’.
Melody songs dedicated to the Lord were played on Casio by a team of seven students, followed by a dance depicting love for Lord Krishna.
The final performance was ‘The Dashavtar’ during which ten incarnations of Lord Vishnu were presented beautifully, which was followed by the most important ‘Matki-Phod’.
Students made a pyramid as a young devotee broke the hung earthen ware. Children thoroughly enjoyed the performance.
Principal of the school Dr RP Singh appreciated the efforts of the students and teachers. He also threw light on the importance of the festival.
