JAMMU, Sept 2: The Inter-Collegiate Fencing (M&W) Championships 2015-16 commenced today at the Gymnasium Hall of the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu, here.
In Epee Boys individual event, Mirza Zakir Beg of MAM College beat Kamal Mishra of SPMR College of Commerce and qualified for the quarter final, while In the 2nd match Namit Swahney of MIET beat Aneesh Uppal of GMC Jammu and qualified for the quarterfinals.
In the 3rd match. Abhijeet Singh of GDC Udhampur beat Anirudh of MIET and qualified for the quarterfinals.
After the quarterfinals, Pankaj Kumar Sharma of MAM College got better of Chahat Singh of GDC Udhampur in the first semi-final to enter the finals, while in 2nd semi-final, Shubham of SPMR College of Commerce drubbed Mohd. Muzamil of GDC Paloura
In the final Pankaj of MAM College trounced Shubham of SPMR College of Commerce and won the gold medal.
The matches were officiated by Chotu Lal, Rachna Jamwal, Ujjwal Gupta, Pritam Singh Slathia, Maninderpal Singh and P.D. Singh (Incharge Tournament).
All the matches were played under the supervision of Prof. Dhian S. Bhau, Director, Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu.
