GHSS Mubarak Mandi wins U-19 Girls Badminton title

JAMMU, Aug 22: Government Girls Higher Secondary School Mubarak Mandi outplayed MIER by two sets to nil (2-0) in the final to win the Under-19 Girls Badminton title in the ongoing Jammu District Inter-School competitions in the disciplines of badminton, table tennis, judo, taekwondo, wushu, gymnastics, yoga and hockey, being organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports at various venues, here.
The tournament is being held under the overall supervision of Tirath Ram, District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Jammu.
Earlier, in badminton semifinal matches, MIER trounces JK Public School by (2-0) and GHSS Mubarak Mandi outclassed SOS Gole Gujral again by (2-0).
In hockey Under-19 girls, Presentation Convent outplayed SOS Gole Gujral by a solitary goal to win the title.
Meanwhile, in Under-19 boys tug-of-war, Guru Harkrishan Public School defeated Oriental Academy in an easy contest by (2-0) to win the title. In the semifinals, Oriental Academy drubbed HSS Gole Gujral by (2-0) and Guru Harkrishan Public School outclassed St Peters School Karan Bagh by (2-0). In other matches played earlier, Oriental Academy trounced BHSS Bishnah by (2-0) and St Peters Karan Bagh got better of Hari Singh HSS again by (2-0).
Principal, Guru Harkrishan Public School, Col Gian Singh Sudan was the chief guest on the opening ceremony of tug-of war events.
