JAMMU, Sept 8: Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) condemned the non-serious approach of Government towards completion of sanctioned tourism related projects in Jammu.
Addressing a joint press conference, President, CCI, Rakesh Gupta and Chairman, All J&K Transport Association, TS Wazir condemned the casual approach of the State Government regarding sanctioned projects like Gandola, Artificial Lake, Mubarak Mandi Heritage Complex, multi storey parking and also not taking any further initiative to identify the new tourism related circuits in Jammu province.
Rakesh Gupta pointed out the complete failure of the railway authorities to modernize the present Jammu Railway Station and creation of new three additional sanctioned platforms.
He informed that CCI has also been taking up the matter of promotion of border tourism at Suchetgarh for which the infrastructure has already been created and the Chamber is sending a communication to the Defence Ministry and the Director General BSF so that the BSF could start the parade ceremony.
He further stated that new trains between Jammu-Chandigarh and Jammu-Haridwar should be sanctioned and also Chair Car Coaches be started for the travel upto 6 hours train journey.
Gupta said that CCI has decided to take up all the pending issues with the State and the Central Government for redressal at the earliest, adding that if the problems are not addressed on war footing basis the people of Jammu will go for a mass agitation.
The other office bearers of CCI present include Sham Lal Langer, Senior Vice President, Deepak Aggarwal, Junior Vice President, Rahul Mahajan, Secretary and Ashu Gupta Treasurer.
