JAMMU, Sept 8: The irate residents of Chatha and other areas held protest against irregular power supply and dilapidated conditions of roads.
The residents of Bhore Camp, Chatha Farm, Chatha Pind and adjoining areas assembled at Chatha-Miran Sahib road and held protest against unscheduled power cuts and worst condition of roads.
Amid slogans, the protestors blocked the vehicular movement on the Chatha-Miran Sahib road, leading to long traffic jams.
The protestors alleged that the frequent power cuts have made the life of people miserable, forcing them to come on road.
They further stated that due to dilapidated condition of roads, accidents are taking place on regular basis.
“A leading Agriculture University is also situated in this area and large numbers of vehicle pass through this road to and fro. But no one from the administration pays heed towards this”, they alleged.
They urged the concerned departments for immediate attention regarding the issues raised by them and warned to block the Jammu-Pathankote National Highway if issues not redressed within fortnight.
The protestors were addressed by Gumeet Kour, Sarpanch, Chatha, Amrit Bali, Sarpanch Bhore Camp, Sushil Sudan, President Social Welfare Association Block Satwari, Prafulat Singh, Secretary, Mohinder Singh, President Bus Union, Ranjit Singh Raina, Ex-President Tanker Union, Man Singh, Sarwan Singh, Baldev Singh, etc.
