MAHORE, Sept 9: Rural Sports Competitions of block Mahore under Rajiv Gandhi Khel Abhiyan (RGKA) in the disciplines of Wrestling, Kabaddi, Kho-Kho Volleyball and Athletics concluded at the Army Ground Sungri, here.
330 students and non-students drawn from the remotest hilly terrain panchayats of erstwhile Mahore Block participated with sporting zeal and enthusiasm.
The inaugural ceremony of these competitions was attended by a large numbers of local people Sarpanches, Panches and Chairman of the Panchayats etc.
Dr SS Chib District Youth Services and Sports Officer Reasi, Om Parkash ZPEO Reasi and Manohar Lal ZPEO Chassana were also present on the occasion.
At the closing ceremony Captain Sumeet Yadav 59 RR was the chief guest who blessed the winners and also distributed medals, trophies and certificates among the winners and participants. The Army authorities expended their full co-operation in making these competitions a grand success.
This Centrally sponsored scheme has been made operational in the State under the directions of Director General Youth services and Sports Jahangir Mir through two Joint Directors of Jammu and Kashmir. This meet was conducted under the supervision of Dr SS Chib, the District Youth Services and Sports Officer Reasi.
The whole event was officiated by a team of officials of the department including Pardeep Nag, Kuldeep Raj, Romesh Chander, Pushkar Raj, Ajay Billa, Manzoor Hussain, Mohd Aslam, Rashid Ahmed and Mohd. Sadiq.
In Volleyball, Panchayat Shikari trounced Jamlan by 2-0 (25-19, 25-20), while in Kabaddi, Panchayat Gota trounced Shikari by 21-04 and in Kho-Kho, Panchayat Mahore-B beat Mahore-A by 14-09.
