JAMMU, Sept 10: PG Department and MAM College entered into the final of ongoing Inter-Collegiate Basketball (Men) Tournament 2015-16, organized by the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu at MA Stadium, here.
Earlier, in the 1st semifinal match PG. Department scripted comfortable win over GGM Science College by 51-24 points, while MAM College beat SPMR College of Commerce by a margin of 7 points in the nail biting 2nd semifinal match.
The Tournament was organized under the Supervision of Prof. Dhian S. Bhau, Director, Directorate of Sports & Physical Education, University of Jammu.
Dr. Vinod Bakshi, Ajaz Malik, Balbir Singh Chib, Romesh Sharma and Vikas Karlopia, Incharge, Basketball Tournament, 2015-16 were also present on the venue.
The semifinal matches were officiated by the Technical Panel of officials including Aman Sharma (Senior SAI Basketball coach), Manoj Kumar, Sumit Dogra, Rajesh Bhagat and Harpreet Singh.
The matches were conducted under the direct Supervision of Aman Sharma (Senior SAI Coach Basketball).
Meanwhile, in Inter-Collegiate Badminton (Men & Women) Tournament 2015-16 held at Gymnasium Hall, University of Jammu, pre-quarterfinal matches were played both in men and women sections.
In the first match, GDC Kathua beat GDC Rajouri by 3-0. In the 1st singles, Ankit Mahajan beat Sahil Gupta by 21- 06, 21 – 06 and in 2nd Singles, Raghu Khadyal defeated Nishant by 21 – 06, 21 – 02, while in doubles, Ankit and Raghu drubbed Sahil and Nishant by 21 – 05, 21 – 02.
In other matches, IDS Sehora beat ASCOMS by 3-0, PG. Department got better of Govt. SPMR College of Commerce by 3-0, GDC Hiranagar outplayed Law School by 3-2
In women’s section, GGM Science College trounced GDC Akhnoor by 2-0, GCW Udhampur outclassed GDC Udhampur by 2- 0, GCW Gandhi Nagar beat GDC Kathua by 2-0 and IDS Sohara beat GCW Parade by 2-0, PG. Deptt. got walkover from M.B.S College and GCW Kathua prevailed over Trikuta Degree College by 2- 0.
The matches were officiated by Vikram Jamwal (NIS Qualified) , Amit Sharma, Rakesh Verma, Taranpal Singh, Mammohan Sharma and Pushap Thakur. The Tournament was conducted by Ravish Vaid Incharge Badminton, University of Jammu.
In Kho-Kho, MAM college beat GDC Rajouri by 3 points ( 10-07), GDC Samba drubbed GDC Kathua by 11 points (14-03) and P.G. Department got better of GDC Akhnoor and PG Deptt. Trounced GDC Akhnoor by one innings and 9 points (11-02)
Anil Sharma, Gagan Kumar. Anil Kumar, Ankush Sharma, Mohd. Israr and Harjeet Kumar were the officials.
The Inter-Collegiate Swimming (Men) Championship 2015-16 was also organized by the Directorate of Sports & Physical Education, University of Jammu, Jammu at M.A. Stadium (Swimming Pool) in which 7 Colleges took part.
The event was officiated by Vikas Magotra (Swimming Coach), Prem Bhadur, (Life Guard), Mushtaq (Life Guard) Mr. Francics.
The Overall Championship went to (M.B.S College) with 13 points ( 2 gold and 1 silver).
