JAMMU, Sept 10: Deputy Commissioner, Jammu, Simrandeep Singh today convened the District level Coordination-cum-Screening Committee meeting to clear the relief, ex gratia and compassionate appointment cases of the victims of the recent incidents of border firing in Pargwal and Suchetgarh tehsils of Jammu district.
A total of nine cases were cleared for proving jobs of Class IV in Government departments which included the cases of the dependents of Sanjay Kumar, son of Bachan Dass and Poli Devi, wife of Arun Kumar, both residents of Pargwal Tehsil, who were killed in border shelling in the month of July-August, 2015; Pawan Kumar, son of Ajeet Singh, Kanta Devi, wife of Subash Chander and Banso Devi, wife of Bhola Ram (all residents of Suchetgarh Tehsil), who were killed on August 28, 2015.
Besides, four cases of Arnia firing of November, 2014, were also cleared. Out of the nine cases, eight will be sent to the Government for according approval to the relaxation of rules as all the dependents were under matric (which is the basic minimum qualification for appointment to Class IV job).
Apart from this, an amount of Rs 3,46,000 was approved as ex-gratia relief to 28 injured persons at different rates depending upon the injuries, as permissible under rules. Rs 5 lakh was approved as ex-gratia relief in favour of five causalities belonging to Suchetgarh and Pargwal tehsils at the rate of Rs 1 lakh per death.
Another amount of Rs 1,43,752 was approved in favour of 20 people for the damages inflicted to their immoveable properties.
The Screening Committee meeting was attended by representatives of BSF, CRPF, 26 Inf Div and 10 Inf Division, SSP Jammu, SDMs of RS Pura, Khour and Jammu South.
