JAMMU, Sept 12: A girl allegedly committed suicide by consuming some poisonous substance at her residence in Ramgarh area of Samba district while a youth was killed in a road accident at Bagh-e-Bahu near Environmental Park.
According to a police spokesperson, a girl (18) daughter of Amar Singh, a resident of Ramgarh in Samba district allegedly consumed some poisonous substance at her residence last afternoon following which she was rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, where she expired at about 10 pm last night.
The body of the deceased was handed over to her legal heirs for last rites after completing all medico-legal formalities. In this connection, a case under relevant Section has been registered at concerned police station and investigations started to ascertain the cause behind this extreme step taken by the girl.
Meanwhile, a pedestrian identified as Shubam Sharma (20) son of Raj Kumar, a resident of Badoi (Akhnoor) was killed on the spot when a water tanker bearing registration number JK02BH-9649 hit him near Environmental Park, Bagh-e-Bahu, Jammu, late last night.
On getting information, police reached the spot and shifted the body of the deceased to mortuary room of GMCH. Today, after conducting postmortem the body of the deceased was handed over to his legal heirs for last rites and acting swiftly Bagh-e-Bahu police also arrested the accused tanker driver, who has been identified as Jagdev Singh son of Inder Singh, a resident of Durei in Reasi district.
