JAMMU, Sept 14: Chief Electoral Officer, Jammu, Shantmanu today convened a meeting of representatives of all recognized political parties in connection with special summary revision of electoral roll.
Deputy Chief Electoral Officer, Rishpal Singh, was also present in the meeting.
As per the schedule for special summary revision of photo electoral roll in Jammu and Kashmir announced by the Election Commission of India, the draft publication of the photo electoral rolls will be made on September 15 in all polling stations while the final publication is scheduled to be held onJanuary 11 next year. Besides, the guidelines of the Commission state that one set of photo electoral roll will be provided free of cost to all the recognized political parties at national and state level.
The CEO asked the participants to identify and appoint a Booth Level Agent (BLA) for each polling booth who would be associated with the special campaign dates alongwith BLOs.
The CEO sought cooperation from all the political parties to make the campaign a success. He said that the Election Department is exercising to register all the eligible voters who have attained the age of 18 years or above as on January 1, 2016.
Shantmanu assured the participants that their suggestions for achieving 100% registration and purification of roll will be taken into consideration. The participants were also made aware about various provisions of Jammu and Kashmir Representation of Peoples Act, 1957 regarding registration process.
