KATHUA, Sept 14: In continuation to drive launched by the District Police Kathua to nab the drug peddlers, acting on a specific information, today Police Party of P/S Lakhanpur led by SHO laid down a naka at NHW near Jagatpur, Kathua and intercepted a vehicle Innova bearing registration No. PB01-8535 which was onway from Jammu towards Punjab.
Police party signaled the vehicle to stop for checking but the accused dirver accelerated the vehicle and negligent manner and managed to flee from the naka. After a short distance, rashy driven Innova vehicle hit backside of a truck bearing registration No.PB06D-2278 causing injuries to driver and three occupants.
During search 08 Kg Poppy Straw recovered under the driver seat of the vehicle. The injured persons were shifted to District Hospital Kathua for first aid. In this regard, a case FIR No. 70/2015 u/s 279, 337 RPC 8/15 NDPS Act stands registered at P/S Lakhanpur. The drive has been carried out under the overall supervision of SP Kathua, Neeva Jain.
