J&K to host National Sub Jr Chess Championship from Sept 21

JAMMU, Sept 14: All J&K Chess Association with the cooperation of J&K State Sports Council will host 41st National Sub Junior competition for Boys and 32nd National Sub Junior  competition for Girls at Jalsa Retreat, Near Domana, Akhnoor road, here from September 21 to September 29, 2015.
It will be the biggest chess event ever held in the history of J&K in which around 300-350 participants including coaches and managers will participate from around 20 States of India. About 40 International level players in boys and girls category have confirmed their participation in this event which will give lot of exposure to J&K Players. Moreover, around 30-40 players from J&K are expected to participate in this historic event in Jammu & Kashmir.
This was informed by Atul Kumar Gupta president “All J&K Chess Association” and also Joint secretary All India Chess Federation while addressing media persons at Press Club here today.  He was accompanied by Baldev Raj and Taranvir Singh Gujral vice presidents, Vikas Nanda Coordinator and Dr A S Bhatia, Advisor to Organizing Committee.
He said that Minister for Industries and commerce, Chander Prakash Ganga will be the chief guest on opening function.
“Top six boys and top six girls will be selected from this event who will be sponsored for two  exposure trips abroad most likely in European and Russian events besides other International events. Total 11 rounds under Swiss System will be played in this event in which cash prizes worth Rs.2 lakh will be distributed among the winners along with certificates and trophies. The event will be played in Centrally AC Hall at Jalsa Retreat,” informed Mr Atul.
He further said that top games in this tournament will be shown live on Internet through Monroi Systems, adding that Anand Babu, an expert from Chennai will operate live games infra for this event and International Arbiter, Nitin Shenvi from Maharashtra will be the chief Arbiter for this event  and he will be supported by  other Arbiters from Chennai, Assam, Rajasthan and three from J&K for smooth conduct of this mega event.
“All other States can field 4 official players in each (Boys and girls) category while host J&K can field 6 players each in boys as well as girls category.
