3rd Highland Kids Sports Meet in full swing

Srinagar, Sept 15: On the second day of the 3rd Highland Kids Sports Meet, more than 350 girls turned up for the competition at Presentation Convent School, Rajbagh, here  today.
The event that is being conducted for the students studying below class 2nd saw athletes hailing from 12 different institutes of city participating in sack race, 50-meter sprint, spoon race and tug of war categories. Earlier on Monday competitions of only boy’s category were conducted. The events were inaugurated by Vice Principal Presentation Convent School, Sr Asha and Research Officer, Government Road Research & Material Testing Laboratory, Ajaz Masood.
In 50-metre race, category-I, Tahoor of Oasis School, Jaspreet of Convent and Kira of Kashmir Harvard bagged first three positions while as in category-II, Khilat of Green Valley, Umima of Green Valley and Muntaha Hamid of Convent bagged first three positions respectively.
In 50-metre, sack race, category-I, Huzaifa of Sheikh-Ul-Alam school bagged gold medal while as Mehrun Nisa of Oasis and Iyman of Sane Kids School bagged silver and bronze medals respectively. In the category-II of same event, Ashweena of Oasis, Aqsa of Model High School and Aayat of Oasis bagged first three positions respectively.
In 50-metre, spoon lemon race, category-II, Safiya of Oasis School, Madeeha of Green Valley and Afifa of Convent bagged first three positions respectively while as in category-II, Naziya of Model High School, Zehra of Linton Hall and Bushra of Legends bagged first three positions respectively.
In tug of war, Green Valley School, Elahi Bagh emerged winner while as Presentation Convent School, Raj Bagh bagged runner up trophy.
The concluding function and final of the event would be held on Friday and also finals of boy’s category would be conducted on same day.
The event is being organized by J&K Sports Development Association and is being sponsored by Highland Journeys, Tours and Treks.
