JAMMU, Sept 15: Jammu and Kashmir Women Tennis Ball cricket team created history by winning the prestigious Federation Cup Championship held at BR Ambedkar Stadium, Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh.
Formidable Jammu and Kashmir Women Tennis Ball Cricket team defeated the strong teams of Karnataka, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh before the final outing against Jharkhand.
Earlier, winning the toss and batting first, J&K scored a decent total of 70 runs in the stipulated 8 overs. Aratrika Razdan was the top scorer with 18 runs, while Mehak Karihaloo and Muskan contributed 16 runs each.
In reply, two time champion Jharkhand managed to score 62 runs in the allotted overs, thus lost the match by a narrow margin of 8 runs in a close contest. J&K skipper and Muskan bagged 2 wickets each, while Mehak claimed one wicket. For her brilliant all-round show, Mehak was adjudged as woman of the match.
Earlier, the State teams were screened by the Screening Committee of Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council, under the supervision of Rajan Sharma, Divisional Sports Officer, Jammu.
