Farmers protest against irregular power, water supply

SAMBA, Sept 15: To protest against the irregular and interrupted supply of power in the villages of border areas adjoining Nandpur in Ramgarh of district Samba, farmers held a demonstration against Power Development Department (PDD) at Power Station Nandpur today. The protest was held under the leadership S. Mohan Singh Bhatti (Sarpanch Halqa Panchayat Chack Nazar).
Demanding regular supply of power with full voltage because in these days they depend on power for operating pump sets in their fields for irrigation of paddy crop, the protestors held the PDD responsible for their plight. They said that their paddy crop is totally dry and there is drought like situation in the area. The protestors said that if such situation persist people will face starvation in coming time as the entire crop will perish.
The farmers also said that their families are fully dependent on the farming. So this they will be put to many hardships in coming days. Talking with media,  farmers warned  PDD as well as to State Government for solving the power crisis with in three days if not then all the farmers of this area will be forced  to block the National Highway at Vijaypur. Later they submitted a memorandum to tehsildar Ramgarh.
Those who addressed the protestors included Sarpanch Om Parkash, Sarpanch Prithipal, Sarpanch Darshan Choudhary, Chairman Balbir Singh, Jagir Singh, Naib Sarpanch Tinku Choudhry, Bila Shah, Billu Choudhry, Narinjan Singh, Gurdev Singh, Bhagwan Dass,Gurnam Singh Nagra, Gudda Naib Sarpanch etc.
