UDHAMPUR, Sept 15: A two days Kissan Mela- cum- Veterinary camp was organised at Channigund village in Ladakh today for the farmers of Kargil district under the aegis of 8 Mountain Division.
The officials from Defence Institute of High Altitude Research (DIHAR) Leh, Agricultural Department, Kargil and District Administration attended the event. A team of civil and army veterinary doctors participated in the veterinary camp.
The Kissan Mela- cum- Veterinary camp was inaugurated by CEC, LAHDC and senior Army official were also present during the event. The local farmers were given training on protected cultivation of vegetables, post harvest management of surplus fruits & vegetables and greenhouse cultivation.
The officials from DIHAR and Agriculture Department shared their expertise to resolve various queries raised by the local farmers and apprised them with modern farming techniques. In addition, the locals were also informed about various Government subsidies available on procurement of various farming equipment.
The camp witnessed a large turnout of local farmers. Various informative stalls were put up by the agricultural experts from these departments. A competition was also held to encourage locals who displayed their farm products and prizes given by the organisers.
