SRINAGAR, Sept 17: As a part of Police Public Mela, being held on September 20 at Bakshi Stadium, a Healthy Baby Show was organized by Police Wives Welfare Association, (PWWA) at Police Welfare Centre Bemina here today. Children of police personnel up to the rank of Head constable and SPOs participated in the competition.
Inaugurated by Chairperson PWWA, K. Vijaya Rajendra, the competition was attended by more than 100 children of Kashmir Zone in two age groups, who were examined by the doctors of Police Hospital Srinagar. Winners adjudged by the doctors on the basis of overall health, would be awarded on the day of Mela.
Speaking at the function, Mrs. Vijaya said that the show was first of its kind in the Valley and would be organized at range level in the future also. She said that such an event was also held at Jammu on the occasion of 25th Police Public Mela. More than 100 children of SPOs and police personnel of the age of six months up to 2 years participated in two different groups of the competition, she added.
Chairperson said that PWWA takes due care of the police wards, while conducting Police Public Mela. Amusement items are included in the day long Mela for the enjoyment of police children. She said that the show was a part of the Mela to bring health awareness among the children and the parents.
Later, Mrs.Vijaya also interacted with the children and parents. She threw light on the benefits of regular health checkups of children and reiterated that PWWA would arrange such camps for the police wards regularly to maintain the health of police wards. She also advised the parents to ensure proper health care of their wards.
