JKCA Ranji Trophy Selection Camp gets underway

JAMMU, Sept 17: To shortlist and select the players for upcoming Ranji Trophy season, an open selection trial camp got underway at Mayank Goswami Cricket Academy, here today.
Around 25 players attended the Camp on day-1, who were bestowed coaching tips by Ashwani Gupta, former Duleep Trophy and Ranji Trophy player, who was assisted by Shashi Kumar, another Ranji Trophy player.
The Camp was formally inaugurated by Ankush Abrol, Member Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and In-Charge Jammu wing of Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA).
Apart from the net session, the conditioning of the players was done via fielding drills and allied activities.
One of the JKCA senior selectors Pardeep Bali was present during the session, while the other selector from Jammu, Sanjay Sharma will be joining the nets tomorrow.
After the open trials, the selectors will pick 15 probables from Jammu, who will be joined by equal number of their counterparts from Kashmir for the final selection.
The Ranji Trophy matches are scheduled to be held from October 1, 2015.
