SRINAGAR, Sept 18: Reacting to top human rights lawyer from Pakistan Asma Jahangir’s statement that Hurriyat Conference has a political standing in India-Pakistan dialogue, former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said the problem is not with accepting it, but when people deny the same of regional parties like National Conference (NC) and People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
Taking to micro-blogging site twitter to express his views over the issues, Mr Abdullah, who is also the working president of NC, said, the problem is not with accepting their standing, it is when people deny the standing of parties like @JKNC_ & @jkpdp.
NSA-level talks between the two neighbouring countries were called off by India after Pakistan insisted on holding a meeting with separatist groups ahead of the Indo-Pak dialogue in August. This was the second time when NSA-level talks were cancelled after BJP-led NDA Government assumed power in the Centre.
