Rising Star Cycling Expedition culminates at India Gate

JAMMU, Sept 20: Rising Star Corps of the Army had flagged off a Cycling Expedition on September 4, 2015 from Jammu to Delhi to commemorate the Golden Jubilee of 1965 Indo-Pak War.
The Expedition was flagged off from Jammu by Major General Sanjeev Narain, General Officer Commanding, Tiger Division. The expedition was conducted over a period of 17 days and touched Military Stations and places of 1965 operations via Samba, Mamun Cantonment, Jalandhar, Amritsar, Firozpur, Fazilka, Bhatinda, Patiala, Chandigarh, Roorkee and Meerut.
The Expedition finally culminated at India Gate with a mega carnival along Janpath Road in New Delhi today.
The culmination at Delhi coincided with a grand exhibition at Vigyan Bhawan and Rajpath.
A number of activities were carried out at all stations en-route to include Know Your Army Melas, Screening of Patriotic Movies, Display of 1965 War Trophies/Souvenirs, Musical Evenings and Mass Pipe Band Displays. Some other highlights being weath laying at Jammu, Samba, Firozpur, screening of war movies and documentaries at all locations including schools, spreading the message across to the border towns of Wagah and Husseiniwala, meeting and interacting with the youth specially school going children to drive home the sacrifices of Indian Armed Forces lest they are forgotten.
