JAMMU, Sept 23: PG Department University of Jammu, Government Degree College (GDC) Poonch, SPMR College of Commerce and MBS College registered convincing victories over their rivals in the ongoing Inter-Collegiate (M&W) Hockey Tournament, being organized by the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu at Varsity Hockey Field, here.
In the first match of the men’s section, PG (Arts) team of University of Jammu defeated GDC Kathua by three goals to one (3-1). Rajveer Singh, Gourav Jamwal and Manmohan Sharma scored goals for the PG (Arts) team in the 34th, 37th and 46th minutes respectively, while the only goal for the GDC team was scored by Ashish Sharma in the 32nd minute.
In the 2nd match, GDC Poonch blanked PG Law & Science team by five goals to nil (5-0). Saval Ahmed scored two goals for the team in the 6th and 36th minutes respectively, while Sahil Sharma, Gorav Raina and Abishekh Puri scored one goal each in the 21st, 49th and 58th minutes respectively.
In 3rd match, SPMR College of Commerce beat Govt. MAM College in a close contest by four goals to three (4-3). Pushpinder Singh scored two goals for the Commerce college team in the 5th and 57th minutes respectively. Birvek Singh scored a goal for the Commerce College team in the 16th minute, while Balmeet Singh scored a goal for the Commerce College team in the 50th minute.
In 4th and last match of the day n men’s section, MBS College of Engineering and Technology Jammu beat GGM Science College, Jammu by (7- 0) goals. The goal scorers were Prabjot Singh ( 2nd minute), Gurtejbir Singh (10th and 55th minutes), Navleen Singh (23rd minute), Jagandeep Singh (40th minute), Sandeep Singh (56th minute) and Amitpal Singh (60th minute).
The semifinal matches in women’s section were going on when the last result were received.
Meanwhile, the quarterfinal positions have been cleared in the ongoing Inter Collegiate Volleyball (Men) Tournament 2015-16, being organized by the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu at University Sports Stadium, here.
Earlier in round 2 matches, GDC Udhampur beat GDC Rajouri by 2–0 sets (25 – 23, 25 – 15), GGM Science College drubbed GDC Akhnoor by 2 – 0 sets (25 – 19, 25 – 23), MAM College trounced GDC Bhaderwah by 2 – 0 sets (25 – 13, 25 – 23), GDC Hiranagar beat GDC Mendhar by 2 – 0 sets ( 25 – 17, 25 – 18), GDC Surankot defeated GDC Ramnagar by 2 – 1 sets (14 – 25, 25 – 23, 15 – 12), GDC Poonch prevailed over GDC Samba by 2 – 0 sets (25 – 16, 26 – 24) and PG Department beat GDC Kathua by 2 – 0 sets ( 25 – 12, 25 – 13).
The tournament was organized under the supervision of Prof. Dhian S. Bhau, Director Directorate of Sports & Physical Education.
The matches were officiated by Mulkh Raj, Shivali Dogra, Amit Sharma and Shavli Charak, while the matches were conducted under the supervision of Vikas Karlopia, Incharge Volleyball (M) Tournament.
