JAMMU, Sept 28: The history will be repeated once again in Kashmir after a gap of over 75 long years when Ganga Dashar (Maha Kumb) will take place at the confluence (Sangam) of river Jehlum, Sindh and Gupt Ganga at Shadipora in Bandipora district of North Kashmir next year on June 14.
This was stated by Jyotshi Omkar Nath Shastri chairman Pt. Prem Nath Shastri Sanaskritik Shodh Sansta and a scholar of Shastras while talking to reporters here, today along with Jyotshi Bushan Lal Shastri.
He said last time the Dashar had taken place at Shadipora Sangam on June 4 in 1941. After a time span of 75 years and 10 days this time the Dashar will take place on June 14 next year.
Terming it a good omen for the universe, he said it will usher in human prosperity and progress as last time also it came with a good message for entire world in general and India in particular.
Shastri Ji said for Dashar the confluence of 10 Yogs is must and this celestial equation is a good omen for the world. Quoting Shastras, he said during the birth of holy Ganga these 10 yogs existed on the universe.
He said the Shadipora Dahsar has no less relevance than Maha Kumb of Allahabad, Nasik, Haridwar etc and the Hindu scholars all over India have given due importance to Ganga Dashar of Shadipora too.
He said during the Ganga Dashar on June 4, 1941 lakhs of people have turned up at Shadipora to take part in this religious function and performed the last rites of the dead.
He said Shodh Sanstan will organize a yata to Shadi pora next year to participate in Ganga Dashar there. A Mahashrad will be organized by the santhan for the eternal peace of the dead at this sacred place. Performing religious rites at this holy place has a lot of religious significance and the people especially the Kashmiri Pandits should ensure their largest participation in the Ganga Dashar, he added.
