RAJOURI, Sept 28: Underlining the importance of roads for the overall development of the State having geographical diversity and difficult terrains, Minister for CA&PD and Tribal Affairs, Ch Zulfkar Ali said that the present dispensation has put prime focus on upgradation and construction of roads with special attention on providing connectivity to cut off and neglected areas.
The Minister said this after inaugurating Kotedhara-Gakhrote road constructed under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) at an estimated cost of Rs 3.51 lakh.
Addressing the gathering at Kotedhara, the Minister said that the funds for the construction of roads and bridges are already released and have been put at the disposal of concerned officers so as to accelerate the pace of developmental works, adding that ensuring development on ground is the priority of the Government.
While responding to the demands projected by the people for installation of water pumps and augmenting power supply, the Minister asked officers of PDD and PHE to adopt pragmatic approach and take feedback from people of respective areas while framing work plan so that the desired development can be attained.
Later, the Minister convened a public grievances redressal camp at Peeri to have first hand appraisal of the problems of the people .
The locals of the area put forth various demands which were mainly related to the construction of motorable bridges,plying of SRTC buses on Peeri, Thudi and Khandli route, upgradation of schools and adequate teaching staff ,provision for more drinking water schemes, installation of water hand pumps. People also demanded check on unscheduled power cuts.
Referring to the demand for drinking water schemes at Peeri, the Minister ordered the concerned to conduct survey of the area and accordingly project the work plan needed to cover the water scarce areas. He also assured the people that the issue of SRTC buses will be taken up with the concerned minister.
Responding to the demand of upgradation of school ,the Minister announced to develop school at Peeri on model parameters with provision of smart classes and directed the DDC to ensure the demarcation of school land so that boundary wall can be constructed on priority basis.
The Minister asked the officers to organise awareness programme so that people can avail maximum benefits from welfare schemes. He assured that Government will leave no stone unturned to facilitate the development of the region and sought public cooperation for strengthening the developmental initiatives of the Government.
