REASI, Sept 29: Women Sports Competitions under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme Rajiv Gandhi Khel Abhiyan (RGKA) got underway at General Zorawar Sports Stadium, Reasi today.
Assistant Director, Employment, Sulakshna Thakur was the chief guest on the occasion.
Nearly, 350 women sports persons drawn from various panchayats of district Reasi are participating in sports disciplines of Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Handball, Athletics, Volleyball and Badminton.
These competitions are being organized by the Department of Youth Services & Sports for the first time under the patronage of Director General Youth Services & Sports through the Joint Directors Jammu as well as Kashmir.
Speaking on the occasion, the Assistant Director said that the sports is the best medium for women empowerment besides it also helps in overall physical and mental development. The district level sporting event is being organized by the Office of the District Youth Services & Sports Officer Reasi, Dr Swaran Singh Chib.
