District Level Women Sports Competitions under RGKA conclude at Reasi

REASI, Sept 30: Women Sports Competitions under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme Rajiv Gandhi Khel Abhiyan (RGKA) concluded at General Zorawar Sports Stadium, here.
About 350 women sportspersons drawn from the various Panchayats of district Reasi participated in the sporting disciplines of Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Handball, Athletics, Volleyball and Badminton.
Sulakshna Thakur, Assistant Director, Employment was the chief guest on the inaugural function, who in her address to the participants said that the medium of sports is the best way for the women empowerment as sports and games cater to the wholesome development of an individual.
This District Level sporting event is being organized by the Office of the District Youth Services and Sports Officer Reasi under the patronage of Director General Youth Services and Sports through the Joint Directors of Jammu and Kashmir. The Competitions were held under the overall supervision of DYSSO Reasi, Dr Swaran Singh Chib.
Inder Parkash, Handball Coach, who has rendered a very distinguished service in the Department of Youth Services and Sports was the special guest on the occasion. Besides officiating the handball matches, Mr Inder showered very handy/basic coaching tips to the players of winners and runners-up teams.
OP Sharma, Manohar Lal, Pardeep Nag, Ashok Kumar, Romesh Chander, Ashok Kumari, Tour Kumar, Pushkar Raj, Kuldeep Raj, Saroj Bala, Devinder Kour, Anil Singh, Ajay Kumar Billa, Ajay Kumar, Manzoor Hussain, Sukhwinder Singh, Kirna Devi, Ram Asra and Rani Devi were the officials.
In Kho-Kho, Panthal Panchayat emerged winner, while Arnas Panchayat remained runners-up, while in Kabaddi, Bharakh Panchayat defeated Kanjali Panthayat to win the title.
In Volleyball, Dadoa Panchayat got better of Panthal Panchayat to claim the title, while in Badminton, Nasreen Bibi , Bhawana and Kamlesh Kumari of Panchayat Gran Banotrian were winners and Rifat Parveen and Anchal Devi of Panthal B remained runners-up.
In Handball, Mari Panchayat defeated Panthal B Panchayat in the summit clash.
Athletics: 100 mtrs: Khem Lata of Kanjali won gold, while Khalida Bibi of Bharakh claimed silver; 200 mtrs: Priya Devi of Bharak clinched gold, while Parveen Akhter of Gran Banotrian won silver; 400 mtrs: Kajal Devi of Bharakh bagged gold, while Anju Devi of Gran Banotrian claimed silver; 800 mtrs: Dayawati of Bharakh won gold, while Anju Sharma of Pouni clinched silver; 1500 mtrs: Aarti Devi of Ransoo bagged gold and Sapna Devi of Bharakh claimed silver; 3000 mtrs: Dayawati of Bharakh won gold and Harjeet Kour of Ransoo bagged silver; Long Jump: Sunita Devi of Ransoo won gold, while Sahiba Bibi of Kanjali claimed silver; High Jump: Sahiba Bibi of Kanjali clinched gold, while Sunita Devi of Ransoo won silver; Discuss: Kulsum of Mari bagged gold and Anju Sharma of Pouni won silver and in Shot Put: Manisha Devi of Reasi and Meena Devi of Panthal claimed gold and silver respectively.
