Relief holders for holding elections in Jagti township

JAMMU, Oct 1: All Kashmiri Migrant Relief holders held a meeting at Jagti township today which was presided by Sunil Raina.
It warned agitation against failure of Government to hold elections in Jagti township on the pattern of municipality or Panchayat elections.
It said the migrants in the camp are facing many hardships due to lack of proper representative body and some agents are taking disadvantage of the same and misleading the community for their vested interests. The meeting alleged that these self styled leaders have spoiled the cause of displaced people from Valley. The meeting demanded that the Government should hold elections in the township so that the real representatives of the community are given chance to serve and project the demands in a right perspective.
Sunil Pandita another leader of the organization urged the Government to hold elections in the township on the pattern of Panchayat elections. He said the conducting of these elections was notified by the Relief authorities Vide NO.RRCM/PA/11/550 dated 23.11.2011 and the authorities had in principle agreed to hold elections in camps so as to enable the displaced people to elect the representative of their choice but unfortunately till date the said elections were not conducted, resulting in to emergence of multiple psedo and self styled leaders.
It was decided that if Government delays holding of elections in the township the migrants will be forced to hold agitation.
Among others M.L.Ganjoo, O.N.Moti Sunil Kumar, Sunil Raina, Rajander Pandit ,Rakesh Koul,Ramesh Jee, Rinku Jee,T K Bhat, Sanjay Raina, Bal Krishan  and Hari Krishan addressed the meeting.
