POONCH, Oct 3: Vice-Chairperson, J&K State Advisory Board for Development of Pahari Speaking People, Kuldeep Raj Gupta today chaired a meeting of district officers at Dak Bunglow here.
Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Shafiq Ahmed Choudhary, Assistant Commissioner Development, Dr. Basharat Hussain, DEPO, Narinder Mohan Suri, Warden, Pahari Hostel Poonch, Javed Gulshan besides sectoral officers of different departments attended the meeting.
The Vice-Chairperson, in a focused interaction with officers of Social Welfare, Education, RDD etc., enquired about the implementation of various schemes meant for the underprivileged sections of society besides reviewing status of targeted benefits meant for Pahari Speaking People.
DEPO Poonch briefed the Vice-Chairperson about the status of disbursement of scholarship meant for the students belonging to Pahari community. He informed that out of Rs. 4.49 cr released for scholarship during financial year 2014-15, 100% amount stands disbursed. He asked the Vice-Chairman for early release of scholarship for the current financial year so that expenses on books and uniform is easily met by the students.
Gupta also took review of Health, PHE, RDD, I&FC, Animal and Sheep Husbandry Departments and impressed upon the officers to work with dedication and missionary zeal and display empathy in addressing the multifarious problems of the underprivileged sections of society. He assured to take up the issues raised in the meeting with the higher authorities of the concerned departments. He also asked the officers to come up with comprehensive projects to resolve the developmental issues of people living in rural pockets of the district.
Earlier, Gupta interacted with several prominent citizens of Poonch in a meeting attended among others by the ex-Legislator Ajaz Ahmed Jan, District President BJP, Sunil Gupta, senior BJP leaders, Pardeep Sharma and Satish Sasan, PDP leader Shahzad Khan besides several other prominent personalities of Poonch including K D Maini, Pardeep Khanna, K K Kapoor, Barkat Singh Azad, Bagh Hussain Rathor.
Speaking on the occasion, Gupta said upliftment and strengthening of Pahari ethnicity is his mission and assured to work for accomplishing all the pending demands of Pahari Speaking People including tribal status.
