JAMMU, Oct 7: To commemorate the wildlife week Science club of the GCW Udhampur organized an inter-college Poster making and Presentation competition on the theme “Save wildlife- Save posterity”.
The event was sponsored by Sunita Razdan District Coordinator J&K State Council for Science, Technology & Innovation District office Udhampur. 37 students drawn from GDC Kathua, GDC Udhampur, GCW Udhampur, GDC Ramnagar and Bhaskar Degree College Udhampur participated in the event .
Earlier Dr. Bhavnaish Chand, Convener, Science club of GCW Udhampur apprised the participants about the theme and its importance. He highlighted the relevance of saving the wild life in the present times to save the future generations.
Addressing the participants, Prof. K.S. Koushal, Principal of the college and chief guest of the occasion appreciated Dr. Bhavnaish Chand for organizing such events. He said that purpose of the event is to educate or create awareness about wildlife among the youth.
First prize in the competition was secured by Rahul Sharma from GDC Kathua, Second prize was clinched by Lokanshi Sharma from GCW Udhampur and third prize was won by Monika Sharma from GDC Kathua. Consolation prizes were shared by Shreya Sharma & Preetika from GDC Kathua and Akriti Gupta from GCW Udhampur.
Dr. Anil Khajuria (from Zoology Dept., GDC Udhampur), Prof. Satish Kumar (HOD Zoology, GDC Ramnagar) and Prof .Sumita Rao (from Dept. of Zoology, GCW Udhampur) were the judges for the event.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Dr. Arun Kumar, Prof. Sudhir Singh, Prof. Ashni Devi, Prof. Ravinder Kour, Prof. Ashok Kumar, Dr. Shalini Sharma and Physical Director Sudesh Kumar. At the end prizes were distributed among the winners by the Principal of the college, Convener of science club Dr. Bhavnaish Chand and the jury members.
