JAMMU, Oct 7: District Development Commissioner, Jammu, Simrandeep Singh declared the North Zone Judo CBSE Cluster open in an impressive function at GD Goenka Public School, governed by Om Prakash Bansal Charitable Trust, here today.
Fifty teams representing their Schools are participating in this prestigious competition and the teams are from Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Delhi and J&K.
The Tournament is being played with an objective to provide an opportunity to the players in order to hone their skill and get required exposure.
Earlier, after the traditional lighting of the lamp, the Principal of the School, Dr R P Singh extended his warm welcome to the chief guest,
The Chairperson of the School, Rahul Bansal, Director Sanya Bansal and all other dignitaries were also present on the occasion.
Flag Hoisting was followed by the spectacular March Past. A colourful bonanza of dance items representing ‘Unity in Diversity’ was presented depicting glimpses of Jammu and Kashmir with Dogri and Kashmiri folk dances.
To create special aura from the land of Rajasthan, Kachi Ghori and Ghumar Rajasthani folk dances were performed. A Kaleidoscope of flag song followed by dance performance was also presented, holding red and blue flags that enthralled the audience.
The chief guest in his speech congratulated the Goenkan organizers and the participants from various Schools participating in the event.
He was impressed with the achievements of Goenkans in National and International events.
A token of appreciation was presented to the chief guest.
An oath taking ceremony took place before the chief guest formally declared the event open.
