Rs 20.19 lakh compensation paid to firing victims: Govt

SRINAGAR, Oct 9: The Government today stated that an amount of Rs 20.19 lakh has been paid to the border firing victims living along Line of Control (LoC) and International Border (IB).
In a written reply to MLC Ajatshatru Singh, the Minister-in-charge, Home Department stated that Rs 20.19 lakh amount as ex-gratia/ compensation has been paid to the firing victims living along LoC and IB in four districts that include Jammu, Samba, Kathua and Poonch.
Giving district-wise details, the Government stated that an amount of Rs 10.19 lakh has been paid in Jammu, Rs 1.20 lakh in Samba, Rs 1.20 lakh in Kathua and Rs 7.60 lakh in Poonch.
The Government further stated that a proposal regarding construction of community type bunkers at various place along IB and LoC has been sent to the Ministry of Home Affairs for its consideration.
