Kingpin of drugs smuggling gang held with heroin, live cartridges

KATHUA, Oct 11: Police arrested kingpin of drugs smuggling gang and recovered heroin and five live cartridges.
According to SSP Kathua Neeva Jain, police team from Kathua police station apprehended the kingpin of drugs smuggling gang and recovered heroin along with currency paper of Rs 10 from his possession, which could be used for taking drugs.
The accused has been identified as Rohit Singh alias Chitta, son of Raghubir Singh, a resident of Ward Number 7, district Kathua, SSP disclosed.
A case under FIR Number 313/2015 under Section 8/21/22/25 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic substances (NDPS) Act has been registered against the accused at Kathua police station investigation started, she added.
She further stated that during the course of investigation, police team conducted search in the room of the accused and recovered the apparatus meant for consumption of narcotics and psychotropic drugs, adding that 2 live rounds of AK-47 rifle and 3 live rounds of Insas rifle were also recovered from the room.
In this regard, a fresh case under FIR Number 318/15 under Section 7/25 Arms Act has also been registered against the accused at Police Station Kathua and investigation is going on, SSP said.
