JAMMU, Oct 12: J&K National Panthers Party (NPP) has alleged that BJP leadership has failed to perform and come up to the expectations of people from Jammu region.
Addressing public meetings at Mansar and Dyala Chak today, the party chairman, Harshdev Singh pointed out that during the recently concluded Assembly session in Srinagar the BJP failed to project the aspirations of Jammu people despite having 26 MLAs. He pointed out that Samba-Mansar road which had been left neglected for a long time had severely hampered the tourist influx in the area. He exhorted the State Government to resume the work of macadamization of this road, lying in a dilapidated condition.
Mr Singh recalled that when NPP was in the Government, it had got the proposal of Rs 100 crores sanctioned for the development of the “twin lakes” of Jammu that is Saruinsar and Mansar. Castigating the BJP for its meek surrenders, he lamented that the successive Governments including the present one had shelved the proposal and mainly focused on cleaning and developing Dal Lake in Kashmir thus doling out discrimination to Jammu region.
Lambasting the BJP for not raking up the issues of development in the Assembly, Mr Singh, a former Education Minister, said that while the roads in all the districts of Kashmir are being black-topped steadily, the condition of the roads in the districts like Kathua are lying in a shabby condition. He said that the unabated condition of the roads had been causing grave inconvenience to the vehicular traffic and the general commuters.
Mr Singh reiterated his demand of immediate relief and compensation to the farmers of Kathua district whose crops, livestock and homes were washed away by the last and current year’s incessant rains. Vowing to fight for the rights and justice to the people, he said that NPP shall not allow subjugation of Jammu region anymore and it shall unveil all the treacherous acts done by the BJP at the cost of people’s aspirations.
Former MLA Samba Yash Paul Kundal also spoke on the occasion. He demanded 5 marlas of residential plots for each displaced families of border belt at safer zones besides ex-gratia/ compensation of Rs 20 lakhs for the families of the people killed in the shelling. Several people joined NPP on this occasion.
