GCW Gandhi Nagar organizes Blood Donation Camp

Jammu, Oct 12: The NSS and Red Cross Units of Government College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, in collaboration with Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu and Govt PG Department of Blood Transfusion, GMC Jammu organized a Blood Donation Camp to mark National Voluntary Blood Donation Day here today.
Commissioner Secretary, Higher Education, Sarita Chouhan along with Principal of College, Dr. Kiran Bakshi, Hony Secretary, Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu, R.C. Puri,  and Dr. Vijay Sawhney, Head, Blood Transfusion & Medicine Department, GMC, Jammu, inaugurated the Blood Donation Camp.
Dr. Kiran Bakshi lauded the overwhelming curiosity among the female students to donate blood so voluntarily and enthusiastically for the cause of humanity. While interacting with blood donors, Mr Puri and Dr. Sawhney also appreciated extended volunteerism among students towards blood donation and the college at large for organizing two camps in an academic session for the past consecutive three years.
More than 30 students including NSS and Red Cross volunteers and staff members of college donated the blood on the occasion.  Prof. Ashwani Khajuria (Food Science) and all three NSS Programme Officers in College Prof. Amitpal Kour, Prof. Neelam Thapa and Dr. Ashaq Malik, also Co-ordinator of Red Cross Unit,  were also among the blood donors.
