‘Talab-e-hunar’ sports festival concludes

SRINAGAR, Oct 13:  The sporting bonanza ‘Talab-e-Hunar’ organized by Army concluded today in a glittering ceremony at Awantipora stadium in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
A Defence spokesman said that the event today began with some thrilling finishes in track events watched by huge cheering crowds which also included officials from the Army, Civil Administration and Police. “Impressive cultural performances by school children were also a highlight of the event which received rapturous applause from a packed stadium,” he added.
“The athletics competition which had commenced on September 28 saw an overwhelming participation of over 1200 athletes from South Kashmir in a clear manifestation of the soaring aspirations of the youth towards a healthy and meaningful future,” the spokesman said, adding that Shopian emerged as the champion district in a keenly contested competition.
Prizes were given away by 15 Chinar Corps Commander Lt Gen Satish Dua who in his address to the gathering, expressed his hope that today’s youth, the leaders of tomorrow will continue in their quest for excellence and that success was bound to come their way,” the spokesman said.
