SRINAGAR, Oct 14: Minister for Industries and Commerce, Chander Prakash Ganga today visited JK Entrepreneurship Development Industrial (JKEDI) Pampore, Government Joinery Mills, Pampore and State Industries Development Corporation Limited (SIDCO), Khunmoh and took stock of the functioning of these units.
Reviewing the progress achieved under several self employment schemes at JKEDI, the Minister called upon the concerned to adopt pro-active approach to sensitize the youth about these schemes so that they can avail the benefits of these schemes on ground level. He also called for conducting training camps to impart training to the aspirants, saying that training should be given to produce the products which have local raw material and marketing facilities.
Earlier, the Minister was apprised about various self employment schemes and programmes launched for establishing income ventures in the state. He was informed that the beneficiaries availing the benefit of Himayat Scheme, a seed fund Capital Scheme, have established 3500 units. As many as 1550 candidates have been imparted training under Himayat Scheme, he was informed. He also reviewed the progress of NMDFC Schemes.
Mr. Ganga went round various units of these establishments and interacted with the employees. He also visited showroom-cum-sale outlet of Government Joinery Mills, Silk Factory and Woolen Mills.
At SIDCO Khanmoh, the Minister was informed that as many as 180 units are functional there. He was further informed that 93 cases have been received by the District Industrial Centre for land allotment.
Director, JKEDI, Dr. Mohammad Ismail Parray, Managing Director, SIDCO, Anil Sharma besides concerned officers of the departments accompanied the Minister during his visits.
