JAMMU, Oct 15: A demonstration was held by All J&K SRTC Volunteer Retired Employees Association at Exhibition Ground here under the leadership Dev Raj Bali president VRS Union.
The demonstrators strongly criticized the attitude of the Higher authorities of Transport Department and J&K SRTC Management as they failed to clear the legitimate dues as it was promised that one who takes VRS his dues will be cleared within 60 days but sorry to State that the volunteer retired persons are struggling for the last five years for their legitimate dues and during this long struggle 12 VRS employees have died.
The protesters said that they are unable to understand that why they are being harassed whereas the Government has issued orders thrice but these orders were never implemented on ground. The VRS employees of SRTC feel harassed and cheated by authorities of SRTC, they added,
The protesters said the bills have been prepared and they are lying with Finance Department Civil Secretariat for clearance and the total amount to be paid is Rs 30,1610,673.00.
The protesters gave warning to government that if the dues were not cleared before the close of Secretariat in Srinagar the Association will call for anti Government agitation on November 9 at Jammu.
The Association is demanding COLA arrears since 1999, release of 6th Pay Commission arrears from January 1, 2006, bonus 8.33 percent on basic pay, implementation of one rank one pension in the public sector of the State.
Those who addressed the demonstration included Balwinder Singh, Surinder Singh, J D Singh, Gulshan Singh, D N Sharma, Sain Mohammed, Kulbir Singh and others.
