JAMMU, Oct 15: Saying that to provide best infrastructural facilities to the students of tribal communities residing in hostels, is the priority of the Government, Minister for CAPD and Tribal Affairs Ch. Zulfkar asserted that constant inspection is being done to ensure these students do not face inconvenience for want of basic facilities.
Interacting with the students during his surprise visit to Gujjar & Bakarwal Hostel (Boys) here today, the Minister enquired, about the facilities being provided by the hostel management like accommodation, food, sanitation and education etc.
The Minister said that Government mulls to convert these hostels in to residential schools and for the purpose adequate infrastructure would be created in these institutions so that students belonging to tribal community would be benefitted largely. The Minister directed the Warden of the hostel to provide hygienic food besides renovate the hostel building so that students can study in homely atmosphere.
The students also demanded computers for the hostel to which the Minister assured that the computers would be made available to the hostel very soon.
The Minister also checked the attendance register and found that Assistant Warden and a Senior Assistant were absent from duty. He directed the Warden to seek explanation from the Assistant Warden and order suspension of Senior Assistant. He asked the staff to maintain punctuality, regularity and also organize co-curricular activities alongwith academics.
Meanwhile, the Minister paid visit to offices of Assistant Director (Mills), Assistant Director (T&S) Jammu and Tehsil Supply Officer (West).
During the visit, the Minister reviewed the functioning of these offices and stressed upon the officers concerned to evolve proper mechanism for distribution of qualitative and quantitative ration to the commoners besides to contain pilferage and other malpractices.
The Minister also suggested for constituting active CAPD teams which can keep hawk’s eye to pre-empt malpractices and other unfair trade practices besides to ensure that proper ration and appropriate supply line is maintained.
Mr. Zulfkar directed the Assistant Directors and other concerned authorities to regularly dispatch ration as per monthly schedule to the CAPD outlets for its further distribution to the consumers.
Taking serious note of shabby condition of office of the AD Mills at Ware House, the Minister directed to immediately shift the office to a suitable place.
The Minister also attached TSO (West) and a Junior Assistant with Directorate Office for dereliction and unauthorized absence from duty.
Earlier, the Minister during his visit to Directorate of Tribal Affairs expressed dismay over the poor performance. He issued strict instructions to the concerned to consolidate all relevant data and complete all the formalities so that the scholarship cases may be sanctioned in favour of the schedule tribe beneficiaries timely. He cautioned that stringent action would be initiated against the erring and non performing officials.
