JAMMU, Oct 16: In the much publicized Udhampur attack case, Special Judge NIA YP Kotwal today granted three days custody of Mohd Naveed to NIA.
The custody was granted after Chief Investigating Officer Atul Goel filed an application seeking change of custody of Mohd Naveed alias Usman, son of Mohd Yaqoob, who is presently on judicial remand on the ground that a co-accused namely Shahbzar Ahmed of Kulgam has been arrested on October 13 and during his interrogation, he has revealed fresh facts leading to the terrorist act which is subject matter of the instant investigation.
“Moreover, some material objects have been seized during the investigation that are required to be placed before the Mohd Naveed for identification”, the Chief Investigating Officer submitted in the application.
While allowing the application of NIA, Special Judge remanded Mohd Naveed to NIA custoday for a period of three days from October 17 and directed Superintendent Central Jail to handover the custody of Mohd Naveed to CIO NIA for his custodial investigation.
The court also directed CIO NIA to handover the accused to Superintendent Central Jail Jammu on October 19 at 4 pm.
Meanwhile, court granted seven days police remand of Shabzar Ahmed, who was arrested by the NIA on October 13.
