JMC continues cleanliness drive, removes encroachments

JAMMU, Oct 16: While continuing cleanliness drive apart from the routine sanitation, the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) today undertook the extensive drive in Poonch House, Talab Tillo, Bohri area Ward No. 40 as a part of programme on sustained basis as desired by  Prime Minister of India, so that “Swachh Bharat is a reality”.
The cleanliness campaign was led by R.S. Jamwal, Joint Commissioner (Adm), Municipal Corporation, Jammu, along with Dr. Saleem Khan, Health Officer, JMC and other prominent persons of the area namely  Baldev Raj, President Market Association, Raj Kumar, Rakesh Gupta, Sanjay Baru, Shiv Charan Sharma. On the occasion, a large numbers of locals were involved in this awareness cum cleanliness drive to make it a mass movement and the area has been cleaned thoroughly.
Further, another team led by Dr. Zaffar Iqbal, MVO undertook the aforesaid drive in Roop Nagar, Ward No. 62 and Sidhra, Ward No. 71, where with the active participation of senior citizens and general public of the area the mass campaign programme was held and cleanliness drive was undertaken to clean the said areas.
The JMC once again appeals to one and all to come forward and be a pride participant in this awareness cum cleanliness drive to make the environment and the areas clean so that “Swachh Bharat is a reality”.
Besides, the Enforcement staff conducted the anti enforcement drive in the area of Below Gummat, Bikram Chowk Apsra Road Gandhi Nagar and cleared the footpaths and pavements in these areas. During the drive the team seized one truck load of material which was found kept by the shopkeepers / hawkers placed by encroaching upon footpaths and pavements causing inconvenience to the  pedestrians and also creating hurdles in the free flow of vehicular traffic.
