JAMMU, Oct 16: Army, Special Operations Group (SOG) and Police today recovered a huge quantity of arms, explosives and ammunition from a hideout of the militants, which was busted in Chaprian area of Sabjian forests in Poonch district.
The huge recoveries were made in a swift and surgical operation launched by Army, SOG and Police jointly under the supervision of Col JV Singh of 93 Infantry Brigade, SSP Poonch Jatinder Singh Johar and DySP SOG Poonch Sheezan Bhat.
Recoveries included one AK-47 rifle, one 12 bore rifle, one Chinese, two Pakistan origin and one country made pistols, two Under Barrel Grenade Launchers (UBGLs), two RPG boosters, one RC IED, five Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) with timers, two Chinese grenades, 47 rounds of AK, 370 Pika rounds, six pistol rounds, two RPG rounds, two UBGL rounds, 10 AK-47 magazines, five pistol magazines, 20 kg explosives, 500 grams plastic explosive, cordtex safety fuse, firing cable, mobile phone, battery binocular, insulation tape and wireless system.
The recovery of huge quantity of arms and explosives has thwarted nefarious designs of the militants to carry out terror strikes and revive the dying militancy in Poonch district, sources said.
