Army expedition to Padam flagged off

Srinagar, Oct 17: An Army trekking expedition to Padam area of Zanskar region was flagged off today at Leh district of Ladakh Division. The expedition was flagged off by General-Officer-Commanding (GOC) Fire and Fury Corps.
A Defence spokesman said that the Mercury Streak expedition has been organised by Northern Command Signals based at Udhampur to commemorate 15th Reunion of Corps of Signals of Indian Army.
“Trekking team consists of 11 members from various Signal units deployed in the State and is starting the journey from Photokser near Lamayuru. The team would be covering a distance of 96 km over the Singe La at 16700 feet and Hanumil pass at 16200 feet to reach Padam in 10 days,” he said.
He said the trek is one of the activities which Corps of Signals has planned for the occasion with another trek planned in the month of January next year over Chadar route.
