JAMMU, Oct 17: Govt. Degree College Mendhar organized one day seminar on the topic: “Sir Syed as an Educationist and Social Reformer”.
Prof Mohd Akram, HoD, Education welcomed the guests and threw light on the importance of Sir Syed Day.
The programme was presided over by the Principal of the College, Dr J A. Qazi. On the occasion the whole College faculty and large number of students of the College were present.
The jury members included Prof Sarshad Hussain, Prof Javed Manzoor and Dr Mahroof Khan. Thirteen students spoke on the occasion and out of which Abida Kouser and Neelofar Nuzhat bagged first and second position respectively whereas the third position was claimed by Mehvish Naqvi. .
Principal of the College, Dr J A Qazi appreciated the efforts of the college literary and cultural committee for conducting the programme in the College and helping the students to know Sir Syed’s contributions in the field of education.
Mementos were given to the students who got first, second and third positions and consolation prizes were distributed among all the speakers.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Prof Shokit Hussain, Prof A A Chowdhary and Dr Mohd Azam.
